Description

This is the original 1969 UK issue with the blue Liberty labels with the 'Philips Records Ltd...' label text around the rim and the A//1 B//1 matrices, with the 1-1-2 1-1-1 stampers of the very earliest first presses!

Hapshash's second studio album recorded at Trident & Marquee Studios in London and released in June 1969. The band were formed out of the artistic collective known as Hapshash and the Coloured Coat, basically Nigel Waymouth & Michael English, who had been working together since 1967. Thier second attempt at a psychadelic album was co-produced by a young Mike Batt and Nigel Waymouth. The intro track 'Telephone Bordeaux' is an early example of sampling of Cajun Music and other tracks feature Tony McPhee on guitar, alongside Michael Mayhew. As with their first album it didn't sell well and outside readers of International Times and the London scene, it was little known to the mainstream and was soon deleted after 1970 when Liberty labels were changed to black...
The made in the UK matt sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear and some light storage rubbing/discolouration on the outer cover, with a couple of small sticker scars on the cover. The spine is intact and fully readable and the plain company inner is intact, discoloured and in VG+ condition.   The record is in visually EX condition, with a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two light needle scuffs/marks visible on each side that do not affect play. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with no evidence of spindle markings on either side.   The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud crackle or hiss and definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some very brief, low background noise during the run in grooves.
Overall, a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; LBS-83212, A//1 stamper 1-1-2, B//1 stamper 1-1-1. This is one of the very early first few hundred copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1969 UK stereo issue of this album!
