Description

An original 1959 1st USA press on RCA Victor. Matrix 1S/1S/1S/5S. Back in 1959 <STEREO> was just entering the market place and consequently these original copies are very difficult to track down, now, in 2021. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original LIVING STEREO gatefold cover. We also have both original RCA inners.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In great condition - particular given the vintage. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAREXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations per side. Superb audio with relatively little background. 'Living Stereo' came to the market in the late 50's and they did a great job. Great presence and detail on this LIVE recording. Occasionally just a touch of light background in one spot per side - nothing intrusive or distracting. Expect a couple of light ticks in one spot per side [e.g. Jamaica]. I only detected two spots where there were 5-6 ticks and that was the spoken word passage in 'Piaba' and also in 'Danny Boy'. Overall a cracking performer particularly given the vintage.
Cover (Ex) In great condition and has been cared for down the years. Lovely shiny front and rear. No creasing, just a tiny sticker removal patch bottom right [inked in]. The interior looks superb and doesn't seem to have aged. Edge wear is very minor for this vintage. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture.
Inner (Vg+/Ex-) One slightly more aged than the other. But no splits.
