Description
Harry Belafonte - Calypso, vinyl 1956 RCA LPM-1248 Very good condition. Condition is Used.
This is the third studio release by Harry Belafonte, there are very few of these around anymore, let alone in this condition. This is the record that started a calypso craze in the late 50s. It is over 60 years old and though it does show wear in spots it plays amazingly. There are a few scuffs on the record that pop so I can't rate it any more than "Good" but overall it plays very well, especially considering the sparse instrumentation on most cuts that brings Belafonte's beautiful, almost spiritual singing to the fore. The cover is also in very good shape but does show some wear at the edges. The cover is very clean overall and could easily be framed.
Track List Side One Day O (Banana Boat); I Do Adore Her; Jamaica Farewell; Will His Love Be Like His Rum?; Dolly Dawn; Side Two - Star O; The Jack-Ass Song; Hosanna; Come Back Liza; Brown Skin Girl; Man Smart (Woman Smarter)
