Description
On offer here is a copy of In Search Of Space by Hawkwind, released on the United Artists label in 1971, catalogue number UAG 29202.
Usually this album turns up trashed and without the elusive Log Book, however this copy is in Excellent Plus condition, and has the Log Book.
The foldout sleeve made by E J Day and designed by Barney Bubbles is in truly exceptional shape. The edges are sharp and clean with the tinest bit of rubbing along the bottom edge and on the points of the corners, but this is being picky. there is no ringwear, another common fault with this sleeve.
The inerlocking front is complete without any splits, tears or folds, which is unusual as this album is so prone to damage.
The spine is square with no rubbing with all print intact.
The inside of the fold out sleeve is almost as made, there is a name written neatly in what looks like pencil on the inside top left of the fold out, however this is very hard to spot.
The Log Book is also in great condition, with no rips, tears, writing or folding. It is complete and stapled securely.
The heavy vinyl retains a shine to both sides, with a few very light hairlines and a mark (with does not sound) across "You Know You're Only Dreaming". I have cleaned it with my VPI Record Cleaning Machine prior to playing at volume on my J A Michell Gyrodek turntable with an SME Series 5 arm, Naim Pre and Power amps and B&W Nautilus speakers, so a revealing system.
The sound quality is superb, with a few light clicks here and there but it did not affect my enjoyment of this great album, in my opinion this album and Space Ritual were the Hawk's best.
Overall I would grade as Very Good Plus (using Record Collector grading guides) but this is conservative.
The cream UA labels are clean with some spindle marks on both sides.
The matrix numbers are A1U and B2U.
This album is now very hard to find in this sort of condition and as such is appreciating rapidly in value, this is a classic album and in Excellent shape, a must for any collection.
The record will be sent outside of it's sleeve in a polythene cover, sandwiched between two 12" cardboard stiffeners in a heavy duty record mailing envelope made by Covers 33.
It will be sent within 3 days of receiving payment, by Paypal only please and this is only open to UK bidders, thanks.
I give generous Postage discounts for multiple purchases, please see my other similar listings, thanks.
