Description
UK 1st press (A1U/B1U & A1U/B2U).

Some variant versions of this release have Side A ending in a locked groove.
This release has an innovative 8-page, 3-fold die-cut heavy card sleeve. Opened out, it forms a 'T' shape. This shape is printed black & white on inside and full-color on reverse.
When the lower page is folded up (to contain the liner) the sleeve then takes the form of a 6-page triptych - with the die-cut tab & slot linking together at the center. When locked 'closed' the liner/vinyl can still be inserted via the top opening.
The back cover has a blurred shot of Stacia dancing on-stage, with text that encapsulates the essence of the work:
"Technicians of Space Ship Earth
This is Your Captain Speaking
Your Captain is Dead"
"Printed and made by the E. J. Day Group, London and Bedford".
[The inside spread photos include members of The Pink Fairies].
The package also contains an A4, 24-page 'Log Book', packed with the minutiae of the band's 'flight' through space & time. This 'Log' is printed black on white 'newspaper-quality' paper.

The Vinyl:
This is the original thick heavier chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings. On visual inspection I can’t see any needle scratches or indeed any marks that would cause any clicks or pops. Any marks that could possibly be seen angled in strong light would be light wyspy sleeve removal type only. The playing surface is lovely. Visually look unplayed EX++/NM-.
The Audio Quality:
I have played this vinyl at very loud volume, the audio is crystal clear and vibrant throughout, no distortion or any signs of groove wear at all. I heard no clicks or pops during the play of this vinyl. Lovely sounding copy. Audio graded at near as mint.

The Labels:
These are the original 1st issue United Artists Labels: (correct for this early pressing) Minimal visible spindle lines can be seen angled to the light and there is little if no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round. This obviously looks in barely played condition in my opinion.
The Record Sleeve:
This is the original plain white record sleeve very clean, light creases only..
The Cover:
This is the original 1st issue UA E.J.Day Group , London and Bedford printed un-laminated die cut gatefold cover. This is nice and straight as it should be. no edge splits or tares. Light creases/storage wear to mention only I would grade this at least excellent plus in my opinion. Being primarily black in colour these are normally seen badly rubbed and worn this copy is lovely.
The Log Book
This is complete with the original log book. Near mint condition.
