Description
Here for auction is Julian Cope’s own copy of Hawkwind’s epic 1975 sixth LP WARRIOR ON THE EDGE OF TIME, in which they brought in High Tide’s Mellotronist/violinist Simon House, to add an exhilarating arena-sized orchestration to the sludgy drive of their previous efforts.
The record is in overall excellent condition, having been purchased in 1985 from London’s Vinyl Solution record shop, thereafter living in a thick gatefold polythene protective cover.
The luxurious gatefold sleeve opens out to make a large shield. This outer cover remains in excellent condition, free from tears and folds, except for a small gouge near the bottom of the spine (see photos)
The high quality printed inner bag is still clean, crisp and without ring-wear, though the presence of the 12” record has over the years left a curved crease (please see photos).
The record itself is in superb condition. It has been played and checked for any extraneous noises, which are very minor and have been detailed below:
Side 1:
1. Assault and Battery (entirely clean and clear)
2. The Golden Void (entirely clean and clear)
3. The Wizard Blew His Horn (clean save for one crackle)
4. Opa-Loka (entirely clean and clear)
5. The Demented Man (entirely clean and clear)
(Should the listener choose not to pick up their needle, some slight surface noise will be evident beyond this track.)
Side 2:
(Some slight surface noise which disappears before Track 1)
1. Magnu (entirely clean and clear)
2. Standing at the Edge (some tiny surface noise of a couple of seconds’ duration)
3. Spriral Galaxy 28948 (entirely free from noise, but there is one small click during the bubbling linking synthesiser that segues into the next song)
4. Warriors (entirely clean and clear but see above)
5. Dying Seas (clean save for some minor crackles before the songs begins, and one single crackle on the fade out)
6. Kings of Speed (entirely clean)
