Description
This is truly a piece of rock and roll history. My best friends dad was Hayden Thompson. Early Sun Records rockabilly artist. Hayden passed away back at the end of December. His son tasked me with selling some of his personal collection including his own recordings on acetate, test pressings, and records. I will be auctioning off a variety of records over the next few weeks.
Up for auction are four Hall Recording Studio acetate test pressings from I believe '58 or '59 after Hayden moved to Chicago. One of these would go on to be released on Profile 4015 "Watcha Gonna Do" in '61. The four acetates are Watcha Gonna Do/Kansas City, Goin' Steady/Frankie and Johnny Cha Cha, Brown Eyed Twist/I'll Hold You In My Heart, and Pretending/You're Not Wearing My Ring.
The Watcha Gonna Do acetate is missing a small piece of lacquer in the trailoff wax, and has some slight bubbling near the leading edge, but plays fine. The playing grooves I would grade at VG. Going Steady and Pretending discs are VG+, Brown Eyed Twist I would grade at VG-.
