Description
Haydn Cello Concerto Guilhermina Suggia UK HMV EH 7 61083 1
On “A Centenary Tribute to Madame Suggia” the great Portuguese Cellist plays the Bruch “Kol Nidrei”, Haydn “Cello Concerto” Op 101, and pieces by Faure, Saint-Saens, Marcello, Carmago and others. The recordings date from 1927 to 1930. An English mono pressing on the HMV Treasury Label (EH 7 61083 1), the record, apart from the light surface scuffs that appear common with Direct Metal Master pressings, is of excellent appearance and plays and sound very well with a minimum of surface noise. The recordings sound remarkably fine given the recording date. The cover has some minor wear.
