Description

(Hear) 1959 Lance Roberts Rockabilly DJ 45 (Gonna Have Myself a Ball)

Lance Roberts – “Gonna Have Myself a Ball” b/w “What Would I Do” (Decca 3955). Good rockabilly sound from the summer of 1959m by (Kenny) Lance Roberts (No, not the Kenny Roberts that was a country artist & yodeler – this one only had one other 45 on Decca and one on Sun - and neither was a s good as this.) Now, the bad news – it looks like it was never kept in a sleeve and someone wrote over both labels. If you’re looking for a copy to look at – pass on by, but if you’re looking for a good copy to play this might fit your need. It plays all the way through. The sound on “Gonna Have Myself a Ball” is much better than it looks. The sound on the flip has some pops – enough to make you think he’s popping corn in the background – but it plays through, it sounds half decent, and you’re probably not going to play that side very often anyway. It normally sells in the $200+ range so I’ll start it at 5% of that. Take a listen to both sides. Record is in G condition.
