Description
original Jamaican reggae 7" 45 produced by Soul Syndicate: Soul Syndicate fea. Freddie McGregor "Mark Of The Beast" / Soul Syndicate "6 Sixty 6"' (Soul Syndicate records)
original 1978 Jamaican pressing
SOUL SYNDICATE featuring
FREDDIE McGREGOR
MARK OF THE BEAST
6 SIXTY 6
The very first single on Soul Syndicate's eponymous label strikes straight at Satan as their harmonies chant 666 and Freddie McGregor sings "Satan is a sly old fox, If I catch him I'd lock him in a box, Lock that box and throw away the key, for all those funny tricks that Satan pulled on me... such an evil spirit... Oh Jah, my Father, you didn't have to do it, but you do it...". A sizzlin sax solo fills the break while the dub on the flip stays in the 666 mode with a wicked mix to give the six the fix. A five star piece of vinyl from start to finish. Back weh devil mon. To hear sound samples of both sides of this disc plus Peter Tosh's 7 inch single "The Mark Of The Beast" go to midnightdread.com where it plays or loads automatically.
