On offer here is a Still Sealed copy of the celebrated 1983 RCA Red Seal, .5 Half-Speed Remaster Reissue of two of Jascha Heifetz's Greatest, Early RCA Living Stereo Recordings: his original 1957 Stereo recording of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto (with Reiner and the CSO--regarded by many critics as the finest performance of this work ever recorded) and his awesome 1959 Stereo account of the Mendelssohn E Minor Concerto with the famed Charles Munch and the patrician Boston Symphony. Presumed First Edition and Presumed First Pressings of this Remaster. For the .5 Series, RCA Sound Technicians have devoted special care to prolonged transfers of original master tapes to the master lacquer, yielding here arguably the best vinyl renditions of Heifetz's most wonderful, full, early stereo recording triumphs. Better Yet, here Heitez employs for the Mendelssohn his legendary 1742 Guarnerius violin. That instrument soars over even the superb BSO strings, winds, and brass of the late 1950s and all captured and broadcast here in stunning, enhanced stereo sound.
