Heifetz Piatigorsky Concerts: 3 LP "Soria" Deluxe New Cloth Covered Sealed Box!!.

Years ago RCA had an interesting idea for a deluxe line of records. They knew some people collect deluxe editions of books; why not create a similar deluxe edition of the finest Records? Thus was born the SORIA collection. Their best records, packed in deluxe cloth covered boxes, and with specially commissioned notes and artwork compiled into a luxurious booklet, lavishly illustrated, inside. And they got it right! Soria editions are really very special.

Next comes an interesting observation. Turntables today are, once you get past inexpensive or some introductory models, better than ever before. They are technological wonders. Yes, you can get great tables for a few hundred dollars that will bring great satisfaction to musical lovers. But search on Amazon or open up a stereo promoting magazine directed at audiophiles and you will see tables that cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. You can spend a few hundred or even a thousand on just the Phono Cartridge! And it makes sense. Great electronics, superb amplifiers are wonderful, but what you really really hear in a great system (whether it costs hundreds or thousands) are your SPEAKERS....And Your PHONO CARTRIDGE! And the best phono cartridges require a great turntable to bring out their magic. Heck! You can buy tonearms, just the tonearm, that cost thousands of dollars.

OK, you knew all that. Rich folks got to find ways to spend their money. But here's the real point. REPERTOIRE! Most of those really great system owners are buying re-released 180 gram pressings of great Rock and Roll and Great Jazz music. They want new, pristine, no snap crackle and pop records for their fancy stereos. But not too many years ago, and even today to a smaller extent, the famous stereo and record review magazines covered CLASSICAL MUSIC quite extensively. Not all audiophiles were into classical but a significant number of them were. And so the major classical labels released a constant supply of every form of Classical music. Symphonies, operas, quartets, piano sonatas, chamber music, etc. And with RCA vs Columbia vs Phillips vs London vs Deutsche Gramophone vs Angel you could buy the same music being played by different artists. And those artists put out multiple versions of their own performances. Von Karajan recorded Beethoven's Nine Symphonies 4 times!

You still with me? Good. I appreciate that. OK, so audiophiles in the sixties and seventies and eighties etc had access to amazing equipment AND if they loved Classical Music, nearly infinite REPERTOIRE. NOT SO TODAY! THEM DAYS ARE GONE! There's some classical re-released. You probably can get Beethoven symphonies. But only a fraction, miniscule, of what was available. And so USED RECORDS, OLD RECORDS, are a BIG BUSINESS. And again, you know this. People "Grade" the records they sell: mint, near mint, very good, good, and worse. Worse than that, the big sellers can't really devote the time necessary to listen to every record, so they grade "visually.". Some are better than others at this but records can be deceiving. Some people back then had good taste in music but shitty turntables built into furniture. These "Consoles" are almost funny by today's standards with the speakers way too close together to provide proper stereo separation. And some of these console owners never changed the stylus or tracked records at 3 grams....worn out needle....too much pressure...even if they never scratched a record the damage was done inside the grooves. Old records actually came with warning labels about how a worn or chipped stylus could damage your records.

So what's my point? If you seek the great recordings, you still want to find them new and sealed if you can. NEW & SEALED. Never Played. No scratches. No pops. No damage or dirt or tobacco tar down in the grooves.* And if you can't get every record you seek new, well, YOU CAN GET A FEW FAVORITE RECORDS IN THAT PRISTINE VIRGIN STATE.

AND THIS PARTICULAR SORIA SET IS EXACTLY THAT. THE GREATEST MUSICIANS PLAYING SOME OF THE GREATEST MUSIC IN ACCLAIMED PERFORMANCES IN DELUXE PACKAGING WITH DELUXE NOTES AND PHOTOS AND IT'S NEVER BEEN PLAYED! Maybe you are the guy with the thousand dollar turntable. Or maybe your a music lover with a good system that your proud of that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I've seen this identical set sell for a hundred and twenty bucks plus 30 dollars shipping and that was PRE-OWNED! Another person paid 90 plus 30 again for a pre-owned set.

Well, this is not used. It's not "pre-owned". It's NEW. AND IT'S SPECIAL. So, as music critic Ralph Moore urged in summing up his review of these same performances, just "Buy it."
