This a copy of the mono LK4599 album Heinz Tribute to Eddie (Cochrane) issued by Decca in 1964. The “Musical Director and Production” is by Joe Meek. Heinz was, of course, one Joe’s “favorites”. The real attraction for me at least was that this was the first full LP of Richy (sic) Blackmore’s art. You can hear Blackmore’s early style on most tracks and there are some crisp punchy solos, especially on “Just Like Eddie”. Also in the Band was Chas Hodges (yes that one)
The record features Heinz singing a number of Eddie Cochrane's hits, as well as bespoke songs such as Meek's “Tribute To Eddie” and Geoff Goddard’s classic “Just Like Eddie”. Track details as follows:
Side 1 - Tribute to Eddie, Hush-a-bye Baby, I Ran All the Way Home, Summertime Blues, Don't Keep Picking of Me, Cut Across Shorty, Three Steps to Heaven
Side 2 - Come on and Dance, Twenty Flight Rock, Look for a Star, My Dreams, I Remember, Rumble in the Night, Just Like Eddie
I blagged this LP from a friend in about 1972 because of the Blackmore connection.
Condition: The LP has been played (there are spindle marks) and there are some surface marks, but the record plays well. The Labels are clear and crisp with the famous Decca logo (not framed) and the circular groove around the label. There is small red sticky label on each label – a legacy of my youthful enthusiasm. The inner bag is, I believe, original.
The LP cover is in good condition for its age. The front laminate is intact and still glossy. There are a few minor creases along the spine and the back is somewhat dis-coloured due to expose to sun light.
