Description

Herbie Hancock Maiden Voyage Blue Note Lp from Rare 1983 King Records Series.

This is from a Rare series that King Records put out in 1983. Here is some information according to the London Jazz Collector website.

In 1983, as part of their swan-song Masterpiece series, King released a special limited edition of 15 of Blue Note’s most desirable titles. Though a number of series called “Masterpiece” were issued, Masterpiece Replica 15 stands out. They claim to be perfect replicas: no Japanese markings, pressed on ultra heavy vinyl, with the suggestion they “match of original Blue Note sonically”.

It’s a great example to have. I have another king pressing so I don’t need both. I am a fan of king pressings. They can arguably be better than originals depending on your taste. If you like things a little smoother sounding than an original… people hate to hear any difference from an OG but I think it’s ok, personally. Anyway, thanks for looking!
