Description
Here is Heron's 1970 self-titled debut album on the Dawn label, offered for auction with no reserve price. This is lovely, mature, acoustic music, with a distinctly pastoral feel to it. Musically, it has stood the test of time well in my opinion, and by avoiding whimsical affectations and cod-mythology, is streets ahead of comparable contemporaries, such as Forest, Dr Strangely Strange or Magna Carta. The Catalogue Number is DNLS 3010.
On the whole the vinyl plays very quietly, which is just as well, because the nature of the music is mostly quiet. There is some static crackle and the odd pop and click, which is to be expected with used vinyl of this age. There are no repetitive clicks, i.e. clicks that are as a result of a radial scratch. Down the years I'll have played this album quite often, but only on high quality equipment.
There is virtually no warpage, the tonearm is almost stationary during playback..
Visually, some minor surface scuffing is evident, probably a result of being removed and inserted into the inner sleeve. There are 2 light radial scratch marks across the second track of side 2, these do not produce any audible result as far as I can tell. Side 2 also displays a few smudge marks of some kind, but again I can't tell that these cause any aural deterioration.
A few spindle marks can be seen on both labels.
The front top RH corner of the outer sleeve has an abrasion measuring approx 3 cm high, by 2 cm wide, where a price-label was removed. (Don't you just hate how record shops used to do that? Some would use the nastiest, stickiest stickers imaginable.) The gatefold sleeve is made of a textured card, which is difficult to keep clean. Consequently the front and back covers are looking slightly grubby, but the inside of the gatefold is thankfully very clean. Some ringwear is visible front and back. There is no splitting of any edges, and edge and corner wear is negligible.
The record has been nestling in a Nagaoka antistatic liner for the past few years, which will be supplied.
The paper insert has 2 creases, a very small one at the top left corner, and the second being bigger at the bottom right. Apart from that the insert is clean.

The P&P referred to below is for Royal Mail UK first class, packaged in a cardboard mailer with stiffener, the LP packed outside the sleeve (so as not to cause sleeve wear), and supplied with a heavy duty PVC outer cover and Nagaoka anti-static inner sleeve liner. However, given that this auction is for a cherished item, and that the item delivery is at your risk, you may want to discuss another method of delivery/packaging.
