When Classic Records' founder Michael Hobson contacted Wilma Cozart Fine in 1997 about doing Mercury Living Presence LP reissues with Classic Records she responded that she didn't have time because she was working 50+ hours per week on the Mercury Living Presence CD reissues. Later that year PolyGram who owned Mercury delayed the next installment of Living Presence CD's freeing up Wilma to make the trip to Los Angeles from Westchester NY for 10 days at a time to oversee the remastering of the now famous Classic Reissue Series. Over strong objections from Wilma, Classic started the series with SR 90144 Hi-Fi a la Espanola which, at the time, was commanding over a $1000 a copy (pre-eBay). The original two track analog master tapes used by George Piros to cut the originals were employed at Bernie Grundman Mastering with Wilma present for every note that was played. Wilma confided after listening to the test pressing that the newer version had a little something that her original didn't and that she was pleased with the result. The resulting LP was an instant success and one of Classic's best sellers. When the LP was cut, Classic also cut both sides at 45 rpm onto 4 discs and sent the part to RTI for plating. A mishap at RTI resulted in the b-side 45 parts being spoiled and sadly could not be recut because the tapes had been sent to Germany, along with the entire MLP tape library before it was realized that the parts were bad. So, when Classic issued the six Mercury titles as 45 rpm sets in early 2000, Hi-Fi a la Espanola was released as a single two sided 45 rpm disc with the first three A - side cuts on side 1 and the remaining three cuts on side 2 of the disc. There was only one pressing of this two sided disc at 45 rpm and it sold out almost instantly. This two sided 45 rpm test pressing is one of only a handful in existence and as such may be one of the biggest collectibles of all Classic Records TP's. Jacket in mint condition.

It's a rare find -- good luck!
