CRANIUM'S is proud to offer in a ten day no reserve auction The JAPANESE only KING (jazz) Lp The High Colour Club PRESENTS "SUNDAY JAZZ CONCERT" at the SANKEI HALL, TOKYO. April 15th 1956!

Anyone who has ever followed my listings knows that I don't spend a lot of space hyping my lps. I just put them out there accurately and sometimes point out my favorites. In my life I have only possessed 3 vintage lps that regardless of monetary value I consider truly important and rare. This is one of them. DEEP GROOVE heavy inflexible vinyl original mono label disc and original glossy cover flip back style gatefold cover. This lp IS the Japanese Jazz scene of the era. and though it has some issues it plays through completely with no skips and good luck EVER finding this disc, let alone the live recordings in any other format again. Any JazzHead worth his salt should consider adding this Historic offering to their collection. I am not sure what its value is but we''ll see if my friends from JAPAN can help determine it.

SIDE ONE'S artists are more traditional Jazz. MAGU UTA is a great drivin song with machine gun drumming. AIR MAIL SPECIAL gets a fantastic swinging tratment, as good as I've ever heard with hot guitar and vibes. MEMORIES OF YOU AND ROSE ROOM are quieter/mellower jazz tunes. SIDE TWO absolutely TAKES OFF! Every number is a hand clapping, finger poppin, foot tappin' RED HOT SWINGIN gem. Chiemi Eri makes you fall in love with STARDUST. MAMBO DE FLUTE is as good as ANY West Coast Jazz of the same period. The Scat singing in WHO PARKS THE CAR will amaze and FLOOR SHOW brings down the house as a finali. Overall.......this lp is an HISTORIC MONSTER.

This disc has been completely played many times by me. It is far from thrashed and has an amazing amount of luster still. PLEASE NOTE that it has surface noise throughout with ticks, pops, snaps and crackles BUT NO SKIPS! It still gives a very enjoyable listen and the worst is the last two songs on side one which are quieter songs and the crackling is rather annoying throughout. Side two (which plays much cleaner than side one) rocks so much that the surface noise doesn't really bother much.

SO THERE YOU HAVE IT.......BID NOW OR SAY GOODBYE AND WEEP LATER.

BY THE WAY......

GRADING: I try to give an accurate representation of the record with a numerical value. I infer that the records should play their visual grade. I have given a numerical grade to correspond to typical record grading for the approximate percentage of wear. For example, excellent/85 means the disc should have about 15% wear/marks from a NEW record. By looking at the photos you can find band info and song titles.

FINALLY: If you want to know about me, my grading or other store info then click on the me icon above next to my feedback rating. I do not sell new or newer reissue lps. The Archives I am liquidating have been sitting on shelves for at least 15 years. All my lps are vintage unless otherwise noted. Unless I am confident of my facts (and even then I've been wrong) I do not try to distinguish which pressing it is or fill you full of blather about the lp. I prefer to let you look at the photos and description and do your own research as to the desirability of each piece. I strive through photos to give the most accurate representation of records on ebay. I take photos of the covers, labels and other pertinent details. And finally I back everything I sell, I do occasionally misspell and make cut/paste/ and other stoner mistakes, and I appreciate when others help me out. GOOD LUCK!

Oh, and the usual not so fine print: Washington state residents must pay 8.8% sales tax. I try to invoice within 48 hours. Please pay within 10 days of invoice. Shipping is now done twice a week. Feedback is normally left within two weeks of receiving feedback.
