Description
I recorded 9 x 45 RPM 7" records between 1966 & 1976. I'm offering copies of the entire Audio Unlimited / Wyldwood Studio collection in the coming weeks.
This is the Gord's Horde single bootlegged by Pebbles "Highs In The Mid 60's Vol. 15, Wisconsin Part 2." We were never asked permission to publish. The "Pebbles" said, in describing the Horde, "What's there to say?" They had no clue. I am including history to supplement what Tom Tourville wrote on Garage bands of Wisconsin and what Gary Myers wrote in his "Do You Hear That Beat?" Tourville actually plugged Gary's book.
Gordon Gilman was a classmate of mine, class of ' 64. His band really gelled at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point 64/66 with lots of bookings. The recording was the first made in my new Audio Unlimited basement (See Pix). 500 copies were pressed.
This single was my first disk done in my first home studio catalog #2 and 3 with the Illusions as #1.
I'm also offering the ILLUSIONS "Now That It's Over," recorded on location in the Band Room at the High School elsewhere. It was my first single ( with help from Duke Wright, "Northland Sound"). Super-Rare. Collectors take notice.
Regarding the Rebounds, this was a high school band. I have notes, but need to look them up. If you're serious, you'll be buying some history. For "Don't Throw Your Love Away" my notes say it reminds me of "Can't Seem To Make You Mine" by the Seeds. Flip is a cover of "Summertime". Only 300 copies exist. This is in acceptable condition some scratches; clean labels.
Only two records were released on the Hodag label. Here they are. Gord's first, Rebounds second. Rebounds was the second; same time period. 1966. PRESSINGS BY RCA, CHICAGO. Note their T4KM numbers.
I've scanned an Audio Unlimited Rate Card to put this all in perspective. Note the labels. This was all pre-Wyldwood. Only 2 singles were released under that label as well.
This has a high-starting bid. A single Gord's recording, complete with crayon making the Hodag blue (It's GREEN) went for $200 awhile back. This speaks for itself. I'm including faithful reproductions of the poster, 1 lead sheet/tune and the lyric sheet for Gord's tunes. I will not reduce the opening bid price and will not list these as "Buy It Now." They are that rare and you get the only two records ever issued on Hodag as a package.
Watch for all three Sonic singles to be sold separately starting Saturday 8/29 at 9:30 PM CDST. Dealers and collectors welcome.
Will ship international but get permission to bid first. Shipping will vary for location. Questions; feel free to ask.
