Description

Horace Silver Quintet - Blue Note BLP 4008 mono deep groove - Finger Poppin

BLUE NOTE BLP 4008

FINGER POPPIN' - HORACE SILVER QUINTET

RARE & COLLECTIBLE JAZZ LP

A collectible album featuring Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Junior Cook tenor sax, Horace Silver piano, Eugene Taylor bass, and Louis Hayes on drums, a must for the serious jazz collector.

This is an album from an extensive collection of early jazz albums that I will be selling for a Vermont client, so look back often to take advantage of a wonderful collection.

I take a lot of pictures as they tend to show the condition better than I can describe them.  Be sure and check out the pictures and ask for more if there is something specific you want to see.

This is the original Blue Note mono deep groove 1959 USA issue and would be a nice addition to your collection.

RECORD - graded a VG/VG+

has some light scatches, can't be felt with fingernail - there is one long (2 1/2") hairline scratch on side 2 which is highlighted in a picture but it doesn't impact the listening experience.   No warping of record, some loss of gloss

label (B side) is in decent shape with some spindle marks - Label (A side) has some water marks on edge of label between 4 and 6 o'clock - check pictures

The runout areas have the production etchings including RVG

This album plays great with no distortion, skipping or other major audible defects. There is an occassional light surface noise (dust/static noise) but never anything that interferes with the music quality.

COVER - graded a VG+

has original shrinkwrap with price sticker (59 cents 2/$1.00) most of the scuff marks are attributable to the shrinkwrap except for the scuffs along the opening - NO seams split - opening edge has very minor chipping and light corner bumps (see pictures)

CLEANING

I do a cautionary cleaning only, some light brushing with an approved audio carbon fiber brush and minimal use of audio cleaning solution if warranted. I do not professionally clean my records, I leave that up to the new owners.

GRADING

I utilize the industry standard for grading, Goldmine's, and I tend to grade conservatively.

PACKING
All records are shipped outside their covers, in new sleeves, packed between 2 sturdy corrugated cardboard flats and mailed in an approved record mailer.
