Description
Blue Note BLP 1520 with 767 Lexington Ave NYC on both labels and the bottom of the back cover. Deep groove, original. The record has "RVG" and the "ear" inscribed in the dead wax. Silver, piano on 10 of the 12 tracks. 2 tracks frtom 1953 have only Art Blakey, drums and Sabu, conga drum. The balance of the tracks have Silver, piano. 2 tracks from 1952 also includes Gene Ramey, bass; Blakey, drums; 3 tracks from 1952 also include Curly Russell, bass; Blakey, drums. 5 tracks from 1953 that also include Percy Heath, bass; Blakey, drums. Name of the original record store is stamped in the upper margin of the back cover. Old price sticker on the back cover.
Cover: VG 9" split on the bottom edge. Some corner wear. Light aging on the back cover.
Record: Good + Visually shows moderate overall wear with numerous surface rub marks on both sides. There is a small scratch on Track 2, Side 1. The sound from the scratch is barely audible. There are some light clicks and crackles at intervals. The unique quality of the early Blue Note 12" L.P.'s is that most of the wear is only minimally audible. A few tracks do have more audible surface noise but this is infrequent. The record plays much better than it looks. Audibly checked.
