1970 UK 7" single
HOT ROD ALL STARS
SKINHEAD SPEAKS HIS MIND
CARL LEVEY
CARNABY STREET
both featuring The Cimarons
'Come on everybody let's get in line 'cause right now it's skinhead time!' starts this UK vinyl record from 1970. It features a strident James Brown type voice (as a skinhead) imploring unity and also substitutes the word 'skinhead' for amen in its appropriated "Amen" chorus hook. Flipside is a classic organ driven instrumental in the Lee Perry style which was prominent at that time. Early UK ace reggae band The Cimarons do the backing on both sides. Writers' credit to 'L. Briscoe' on each track. "...Speaks His Mind" is yet another anthem for the era. 'Sock it to me man!' The ORIGINAL 7" UK 1970 vinyl is in VG+ condition. No warp, no skips. No hand writing on either side. Made in England. Numbered HR-104 A & B. See my other current auctions for more unusual reggae albums & singles this week on eBay.
