Otis Blackwell wrote Fever for Little Willie John, Great Balls of Fire and Breathless for Jerry Lee Lewis, and Don't Be Cruel, Return to Sender, and All Shook Up for Elvis Presley, making him one of the titanically important songwriters of the early rock 'n' roll era. Here we have an apparently-commercially-unreleased song called How Could I Forget (mistakenly typed on the label as How I Could Forget, but correct on the hand-written lyrics. The 10" 78 rpm acetate is in G shape, with some of that white powder that sometimes shows up on acetates. I removed enough of it with a soft cloth to get the recording, but a professional clean will make it much better. Plays through surprisingly well, and I'm certain it could be significantly improved. In this collection of thousands of vintage acetates, Blackwell's songs are the only ones with handwritten lyrics.
