Description

Hugh Masekela - The Promise Of A Future - UNI Records - Stereo 73028 - LP, Album, 1968. Only played on Dual1219 turntable with Shure elliptical cartridge using 0.75 gm tracking force; stopped playing when CDs were introduced and stored vertically to prevent warping. The CNI label's first releases appeared in Jan/Feb. 1967. The label was retired in 1973, in favor of MCA Records. Grazing In The Grass was probably one of the most famous pieces by Hugh Masekela.
Hugh Ramapolo Masekela (4 April 1939 – 23 January 2018) was a South African trumpeter, flugelhornist, cornetist, singer and composer who was described as "the father of South African jazz". Masekela was known for his jazz compositions and for writing well-known anti-apartheid songs such as "Soweto Blues" and "Bring Him Back Home". He also had a number-one US pop hit in 1968 with his version of "Grazing in the Grass".
