Description

JUST BECAUSE their records are so consistently good and so numerous, collectors oft overlook the huge looming monument to '20s jazz that is The California Ramblers.  Under their own name, and also a blizzard of pseudonyms on various labels (THE GOOFUS FIVE is the one on OKeh), they maintained a shockingly high Jazz Quotient.  ADRIAN ROLLINI (bass sax and goofus), BILL MOORE (cornet),  BOBBY DAVIS (clarinet) saw to that.

In this instance, they play "I HAD SOMEONE ELSE BEFORE I HAD YOU (And I'll Have Someone After You're Gone)"  and "(I Like Pie - I Like Cake) BUT I LIKE YOU BEST OF ALL," which should get the Oscar for Longest Titles Ever on a Jazz Record.

This original 1925 Maroon OKeh 40340 is in highly nice V++ condition, and the mystery is why I'm selling it.

*****

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
