  IAN ANDERSON'S COUNTRY BLUES BAND

 with CHRIS TURNER, BOB ROWE, HARMONICA ANNIE,

BIG SUNFLOWER, PETE HOSSELL, RON NEEDES, BRIAN CLAXTON

 Anderson (who was not the same guy that fronted Jethro Tull) was a bottleneck and slide guitarist. 

Indeed from 1970 he added the 'A' between his names to avoid confusion with the Jethro Tull frontman. 

He'd been in a local R&B band at school, but from 1966 started playing folk and blues clubs around Bristol. 

He also recorded an EP the following year with Al Jones and Elliot Jackson, Anderson, Jones, Jackson in 1968. 

The same year he began touring nationally as part of the British blues boom 

with artists like Mike Cooper and Jo-Ann Kelly

Indeed he recorded The Inverted World with Mike Cooper on his own Matchbox label. 

He then formed Ian Anderson's Country Blues Band, which included Paul Rowen (hrmnca) and Bob Rowe (bs). 

Their album was a good example of this genre and one of its cuts, 

My Babe She Ain't Nothing But A Doggone Crazy Fool Mumble, was also featured on the Son Of Gutbucket sampler.

From 1970 he worked as a solo artist, forming his own Village Thing label. 

His albums featured mostly self-penned material.
