Ian Lynn 'Forgotten Summer' - Nimbus Supercut LP (NM/NM)
Welcome to our auction for an extremely rare Nimbus Supercut pressing of Ian Lynn's classic pastoral jazz album 'Forgotten Summer'. If you are into audiophile vinyl, Nimbus Supercut LPs need no introduction.
Nimbus Supercut LPs were released as part of a special promotion available only to readers of Practical Hi-Fi and Hi-Fi today magazines in the UK during the early 1980s. They also pressed some albums exclusively for MMC Recordings, these being even rarer than the mail order releases. All the Nimbus Supercut releases were only available in limited quantities and are now even rarer than releases from Mobile Fidelity, Nautilus, DCC and similar. Nimbus Records established the need for high quality record releases, as most mainstream vinyl at the time was haphazardly mastered from poor master copies and pressed on poor quality recycled vinyl. In contrast with this release, Nimbus Records went back to the original master tapes for an all-analog pressing, for the best version of 'Forgotten Summer' ever available. Nimbus Records also had the ICI company produce an extremely pure vinyl for the LPs, which has better frequency reproduction and is virtually noise free! This pressing of this classic jazz album has to be heard to be believed. Never before auctioned on eBay, you won't see this pressing again!
LP was originally recorded onto cassette and as such has only been played a couple of times. The vinyl is stunning near mint condition. The cover and poly-lined inner sleeve are also near mint (NM/NM). Bidding will start at only 99p, so someone will get a definite bargain!

About the album
Forgotten Summer is the first of three thematically related suites. It is pastoral in nature, although stylistically it falls into the area of crossover jazz. My aim was the capture something of a summer day - rolling hills, a rainy afternoon, a drive to the beach, a beautiful sunset - memories of a forgotten summer long ago.
