Description
In the City is the debut studio album by the English rock band the Jam, formed in 1972 in Woking, Surrey, consisting of Paul Weller, Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler. Upon its release in May 1977 by Polydor Records, In the City received all-round positive reviews. It reached No. 20 on the UK Albums Chart. The album features the band's debut single and title track "In the City". In addition, the album includes two cover versions, "Slow Down" and the theme to the 1960s television series, Batman, the latter of which had also been previously covered by the Who, the Kinks and Link Wray.
THIS COPY is a 1st PRC pressing from 1977 on the Poldor label (see Notes, below).
The vinyl, per a test listen, plays without any issues. The vinyl is in Very Good Plus [VG+] or better condition.
The original cover shows signs of light handling, with a nick in the upper seam that have been intended as a "cut out" saw cut - but it's very small. Overall, the cover is in Very Good Plus [VG+] condition.
The original inner sleeve has a lot of words printed to look like they are on pieces of cut out paper and taped on. They are no doubt excerpts from the song lyrics, but unlike inner sleeves that print full song lyrics, these are more random bits. With no splits and only a couple of wrinkles, the inner sleeve is in Very Good Plus [VG+] or better condition.
