Formed in London in the late 70s, jazz-funk collective Incognito reach a happy milestone with their 20th studio album, Music Magic Ironic, galumphing down the chimney this Christmas. Led by guitarist, songwriter and organiser-in-chief Jean-Paul Maunick, they frame this double album as a reflective pause point after more than four decades of releases, sessions and touring. 17 tracks unfold with a familiar Incognito openness to voices old and new: Tony Momrelle, Joy Rose and Zebulon Ellis among them, plus the return of longtime collaborator Maysa on 'Lost Until I Want To Be Found'. A cover of Roy Ayers' 'Running Away' nods to the lineage Bluey has always worn plainly.
