PERHAPS THE FIND OF A LIFETIME FOR A YAZOO FAN !!!
Incorrectly pressed 7" Single with "Bad Connection" as the A-side & their first Single, "Only You", on the B-side
("BAD CONNECTION" WAS NEVER RELEASED AS A SINGLE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD)

GRADING :
Record :NM (Near Mint). There is not a mark on this 7" at all and it looks as if it was pressed today. It plays through with no defects whatsoever.
Sleeve : Generic CBS Company sleeve
"Only You" was released in the UK in March 1982, as a 7" and 12" single. It was the first single from Yazoo's debut album 'Upstairs at Eric's', and was paired with the B-side "Don't Go".
In the USA it was released with the B-side "Winter Kills"
In South Africa it was released in 1982 with "Situation" as the B-Side.
The copy offered here is a peculiarity and I can only think it was a discarded or withdrawn error.
Discogs, Popsike & 45cat (as well Google & the official world release discography on Yazoo's website) make no reference whatsoever to it at all.
THESE ARE THE ANOMOLIES :
1. The A-side is "Bad Connection", which according to my research was never released on a Single anywhere in the world (A & or B side).
2. The B-side is "Only You" which was in actual fact the A-side of the South African 1982 release (with "Situation" as the B-side).
3. There are no production credits under the artist name (Yazoo) - just a large blank space.
4. The catalogue number on Side 1 is SSC 3006 with (SSC3006 A) underneath it but there is a mistake on Side 2 where the catalogue number is SSC 3006 with (SSC 3306 B) underneath it. The matrix numbers are - (Side 1) SSC 3006 A DD & (Side 2) SSC 3006 B DD. Therefore the (SSC 3306 B) under the catalogue number on Side 2 is clearly an error.
5. The release year on this 7" Single is 1983 - a year after "Only You" was released in South Africa as a Single - so should not have been the B-side of a Single (which was never supposed to be released) a year later.
6. There are no times on either side of the Single.
7. Neither side of the Single mentions 'MUTE'. (Side 1 mentions 'Blackwing Music' and Side 2 mentions 'MCPS')
My feeling is that this particular pressing was discarded/ withdrawn when the error of the labels along with the complete incorrect tracks pressed on either side was realised.
I am not sure how many of this particular version were pressed or how many went into circulation - but as a Yazoo fan this is the only one I have ever found.
If you are a fan of Yazoo - this is an absolute must have gem which I am almost certain will not be seen again!
