INEPT HILLBILLY 45 - Johnny Fritz - It Don’t Hurt A Bit - B.E.S 1964 King Custom

Condition: G. This is a “King Records Custom Pressing” from Cincinnati, Ohio. It is vinyl, not styrene. “It Don’t Hurt A Bit” is actually a better side IMO. The A side is a cover of a Carl Smith song. This is Buddy Starcher’s label, from Charleston, West Virginia. It is an uncommon vanity press, which is likely very few were made. Plays with no significant distractions, has very little background noise, however it does have various scuffs and several marks on the playing surface, detracting from the overall value and pristine visual condition a music snob like myself wants to own.

I use 4 grades:

M; essentially a new record, that is old.

EX; what sellers on ebay call mint-.

VG; damn pretty, near perfect- what sellers on ebay call "VG++"

G; a shiny, cleaned and clean labels 45 (no writing, stickers, ring wear) that can hold a spot until a better copy comes along. It is a ebay seller version of VG+.

Anything that has a small scratch, or labels worn, or anything less then ultra clean, goes in the flea market booth, for 1.00. These are poor condition 45's that play ok, and what collectors on ebay subjectively nurture and caress as "VG" records, then get all subjective and add a plus or minus to add to their egotistical rules. Been burned so much I may sound a bit condescending, but for me collecting the best condition records and integrity are essential.

A scratched worn record is not "Very Good" is it "not good, it is a bad looking" record. However it may play decent and actually very nice with little or no surface noise. I have had perfect looking records that are styrene and sound like nails are ripping paper.

The +/- sign has no bearing on the grade, it is subjective as to each individual and how they FEEL and perceive the attitude surrounding the hobby of collecting.

By dissecting and reducing all the +/- symbols I find relief in my simple grading system. All those VG+ records I purchased through the years now have my lowest grade (G).

Before Goldmine, the grades were A, B, C, D.... and less F.

I saw those grades on 45's and 78's and LP's back in the late 60's and 70's and like a High School report card, a (+/-) was added based on what level of learning was obtained. Their is no point system to grade a piece of plastic like a true point system in the educational system. Thus grading is in the mind of the beholder.

I have been selling records for 25 years. I was one of the first sellers on ebay, to use large pictures, and sound-clips, to enhance the auction experience. I specialize in 1950's and 1960's music, which I love very much. With youtube available, it is not necessary anymore to record each and every record, however if you must have a sound file, because you are a audiophile that requires 45 RPM records to be gift wrapped fresh from the factory, go find a time machine, as even store stock new records will have 50 years of dust and grime on them from pollution that nobody believes exists, yet cancer rates have risen 50 thousand percent, since the 1960's....

I sold in Goldmine and Discoveries in the 1990's. I started on ebay and Gemm around 1997. I owned several record stores in my life, in various states. My last store was, Vinyl Mountain Records in Milton, West Virginia and I closed it in 2013, as I don't sell, "vinyls or vynals” I sell RECORDS.

The name JG Tiger is from a 1950's recording by Johnny Carroll, the composer of "Crazy, Crazy Lovin" on Decca Records.
