INITIAL SHOCK "Mind Disaster" b/w "It's Not Easy"
Original 1966 45 on the B.F.D. label (wonder what THAT stands for?)
Plays VG++
Has sold for up to $283 before
Great early West Coast ballroom folk rocker from the Initial Shock, one of the hardest working San Francisco ballroom stalwarts from 1967 to 1968 who never got an album deal. The band were actually from Montana, and cut this debut single there in 1966 before relocating to San Francisco in 1967. Both sides of this superb single reveal a band heavily indebted to the Byrds, but adding in some garage fuzz guitar on the stronger “It’s Not Easy” and a more garagey vibe on the jangly “Mind Disaster,” which sounds like early Leaves. With a single this strong under their belt, it’s no wonder they were consistently booked at all the San Fran clubs once they moved there, playing the Straight Theatre, Western Front, Carousel Ballroom, Cow Palace, the Avalon Ballroom and the Fillmore West with frightening regularity. They also recorded a second single in 1967, which I’ve never seen. Quintessential San Fran garage folk psych of the highest order.

Italian customers must add $33 for registered insured priority airmail - no exceptions - because otherwise your mailman will be playing your record on his home system by this time next month.
Paypal accepted, as well as other methods too. Payment expected within 14 days of auction end, which I think is pretty fair. Don't make me track you down. I got a mortgage to pay too. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding!
