Description
Up for auction is a one of a possible handful of early Imperial 45s: "All that Wine is Gone" backed by "Don't Cry Baby" by classic R&B frontman Big Jay McNeeley, vocals by Jessie Belvin and the Three Dots. Imperial 5115. Classic Silver script blue label circa 1952.
This was found in southern California a few years ago as part of a handful of early 45s on Aladdin, King, Imperial, Red Robin, Chess, Dootone ect.
In their latest listing, Goldmine lists Imperial single #5219 (1953) as the first known single by BJM and states that "Earlier Big Jay McNeely releases on Imperial are unknown." This is also the first recording made by a young Jessie Belvin!
This auction is your chance to own a previously unknown, super early R&B single. Bragging rights come free with a winning bid!
One more thought on the idea of rarity. Look up the rarest of 1950's albums. In a given week you will almost always see the rare Score LPs including Amos Milburn or the Five Keys. I have counted 11 first pressing "Rock and Roll Trio" albums on ebay in the past 6 months and both the Roy Brown and Amos Milburn 10" lps on Aladdin were offered in the past two weeks. There are 6 copies of the "mega rare" UK Elvis Rock and Roll #2 for sale on ebay at this very moment. So, when we are talking about "rare" how does an item that has NEVER been identified by Goldmine over the past 25 years stack up? Think about it if you are hesitating to bid the 12.00 start price!
This one is in average good condition, normal wear on record and label, some vinyl shine remaining but lots of light to medium marks (but little or nothing that can be felt by fingertip).
I absolutely guarantee the authenticity of this item. Your money back if item does not meet this standard!
Very low start, I will let the market decide on this one!
