RAREST LP ON THE INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS LABEL
International Artists is the most famous Texas independent rock record label and the most collectible. With artists like The Thirteenth Floor Elevators, The Red Crayola, Bubble Puppy, The Golden Dawn and Lightnin' Hopkins, International Artists lit up Texas like the Lubbock Lights. Perhaps, the most obscure artist on the label was a lounge band out of Casper, Wyoming, The Boyles Brothers. After college, the brothers headed down to south Texas and Houston to continue to expand their regional popularity that began Laramie.
Less than 2000 copies of this LP were pressed 51 years ago, with most being sold from of the trunk of the brothers' car and at gigs, rodeos, county fairs and nightclubs.
If you collect the IA label, the 45s are often the toughest to find but the rarest album is "Introducing The Boyles Brothers". Grab it while ya can. It has never been reissued, repressed or remastered. Although IA has put several boxed sets and compilations together over the years to meet the demand of their friends and fans, The Boyles Brothers have never been included, and indeed, the LP is often left off of IA discographies. It is what it is, the only vanity LP on a label of joyous South Texas insanity.
I picked up this copy at the first Houston Record Convention in the summer of 1977 and it has been stored vertically for 42 years in smoke-free environments in both Texas and Colorado.
