When I hear the term New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), I usually think of Iron Maiden. Those guys came after the initial wave of Judas Priest, Saxon, Motörhead, and of course, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. Iron Maiden made some of the best music out of the entire bunch, and the band is still around to this very day, releasing new music and touring. And yes, they are still relevant!

Maiden began their decades long career in 1975, almost FIFTY years ago! Bassist Steve Harris has steered the band since the beginning, and he and guitarist Dave Murray are the only two band members who have appeared on every album. Named after a torture device, Iron Maiden has lasted all these years, and the latest album released is 'Senjutsu', which came out in 2021. Maiden is currently on a world tour that doesn't end until December of this year!

In 1986, Iron Maiden released their album titled 'Somewhere in Time'. The cover is Eddie as a cyborg, and looking wicked! The artwork is actually amazing, as both the front AND the back have many references to past songs, album titles and covers, (as well as other things) that will be known to Maiden fans. You can always cheat, and look up those references, but you can also see how many that you can find on your own first! Eddie as a ripped cyborg, with dozens of clues all over...it's actually a fun album cover!

A very cool UK import 12" picture disc of this metal classic was released in 2007. A few different versions were released through the years, but this is the only one with the actual back cover of the album jacket on the B side! And that makes it very cool, in my book. It feels a little lighter than other 180 gram records, so 120 gram vinyl, probably. And there's a few light surface marks on it. Nothing too bad, and the colors are still nice and bright. (I cannot vouch for the sound quality, as I never play specialty vinyl such as pic discs or colored records.) But a great Maiden collectible that doesn't pop up too often. Snatch up Eddie the cyborg and bring him home with you today!
