THE ORIGINAL IRON MAIDEN

First of all to clear it up, this is not the same IRON MAIDEN who are famous.. This is a band with the same name but way earlier.. It can be called proto-doom, proto-metal.. But what I really find it to be is a brilliant mixture of Blues Rock & Progressive Rock.. Ever feel that Clapton's solos on the Cream records are just not lengthy enough.. Feel like you could have listened to his guitar soloing for 3 minutes more.. Or feel that YES is sometimes too technical & miss the super bluesy bends that Clapton, Hendrix, Page did.. Well here is your album then. It feels like a live jam album.. Rock solid bass & drumming with super bluesy & satisfyingly long enough guitar solos.. The album most similar to it would be Jimi Hendrix's Band Of Gypsys.. And by the way, its not just guitar solos in there, there are some bass solos & harmonicas too.. My favourite tracks are Liar (its an epic jam.. has a bass solo) & CC Ryder (Blues). Well most probably you found this means you like the other (famous) Iron Maiden, so were just checkin it out, right..? Well me too... But let me tell you if you like IM then you probably like Deep Purple (Bruce was a fan of Ian Gillan).. And if you like Deep Purple's kinda proggish music teamed with Blackmore's bluesy solos, then you will definitely love the Iron Maiden of the 60s...(AllMusic UserReviews)
