Iron Maiden : Powerslave A-5 / B-5 Original Press 1984

This early second pressing plays with remarkable quality and must have been purchased to be part of an un-played collection.  I cannot put into words just how immaculate the entire 'package' is!  The clarity, depth, power and resonance of the audio is stunning and there is no background aside from a couple of minor ticks at the end of a fade out.  Even the quiet section during 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' plays with incredible clarity!  Not surprisingly the vinyl is pristine and there is no spindle wear on the labels.  This is without doubt a FINAL UPGRADE archive classic.

The cover has been preserved so well and looks brand new.  It has retained its original shape and structure, it just could be any more impressive.  The lyric inner is in superb condition also with zero wear.

Visual description

This vinyl is in beautiful condition and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Even when I look under a strong light I can only see a couple of ultra faint hairlines.  There is no groove wear and as stated I would not be surprised if this had never been played before.  The labels are pristine with no spindle wear.

Play grading

'Aces High' plays with stunning clarity and power from the word go.  The intro is perfect and the powerful opening vocal is just as impressive.  The first chorus is 'as new' and the following instrumental passage could not play any better, the audio is so deep and strong.  It continues in the same way and there are no negatives.  The sound is as clear as it would've been when first released in '84 - there is no 'muddiness' and no distortion either.  Without doubt a Mint start to the album.

The intro on '2 Minutes To Midnight' has no background and the first verse is just as 'clean'.  The opening chorus is equal to that and the quality does not drop as it progresses.  Much like the first track the sonic quality cannot be faulted and the long instrumental is a case in point.  So strong and clear, each note can be heard perfectly.  The remainder has no interference either and this is another Mint track.

The instrumental 'Losfer Words...' plays with real power and depth through every section and Mint is again deserved.  No need for a minus even, there is no background at all.

'Flash Of The Blade' again shows how well this vinyl has been preserved and plays with outstanding quality with no sign of any interference.  The now familiar clarity, power and depth of the audio is very much in evidence.  Mint

'The Duellists' ends S1 with tremendous power and definition through every section.  A powerful track (big surprise!) and if there is any inner groove distortion it is kept to an absolute minimum.  In fact I shouldn't even mention it - the clarity of sound is still superb but I will grade as Mint- just to err on the side of caution.

'Back To The Village' plays at a fast pace from start to finish with no background of any kind.  Great power and depth and a Mint start to S2.

The quiet intro on 'Powerslave' plays with sublime clarity and the opening riff is just as strong.  The first verse and chorus play to perfection and it continues to impress on every level.  The quieter mid section has not so much as a dust tick and the following instrumental is so clean and powerful.  Dickinson's high octane end vocal could not play any better either. Mint

The epic 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' plays with impeccable quality from the very first note. The intro and opening vocal section play with exceptional sonic quality and the first instrumental is equal to that.  The very quiet 'progressive' section plays beautifully with no intrusion and as it builds out of this section the playback is faultless.  From then onwards there is no drop in quality - the next extended instrumental is a prime example of that, superb sound!  The final vocal section is perfect and the fade out has only a handful of very light dull ticks right at the end.  I will say Mint- because of that but in all honesty it could hardly play any better.

The Cover & Lyric Inner

The cover is in fantastic condition it is practically 'as new'.  In fact you would not be disappointed if you had just purchased it 'new' from a record shop.  The only wear I can see is one tiny rub in the top left corner and it is easily the most stunning example of this iconic cover that I have ever seen.  Wow!

The lyric inner is in the same perfect condition with no side splits, marking or creasing.  The previous owner placed a pvc inner sleeve inside and clearly knew how to look after his records.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
