Originally released in 1995 and perhaps one of the most underrated albums of the decade. Best known for his 1989 breakthrough Heart Shaped World and the haunting 'Wicked Game'. Isaak quietly built a career of consistency and Forever Blue may be his most complete artistic statement. Stripped of production tricks that date much of the 90s, Isaak's sound could sit comfortably in any decade from the 50s till today. His guitar tone is shimmering, aching and drenched in atmosphere helps carries singles like 'Graduation Day' and 'Somebody's Crying' into a league of their own. Smooth harmonies and passionate lyrics throughout the album. Isaak pours raw emotion into both the upbeat, almost snarling rockabilly of 'Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing' and 'Goin' Nowhere' as well as the hushed melancholy of 'Changed Your Mind' and the title track. The album as a whole remains overlooked compared to Isaak's earlier success. In retrospect, its fusion of country, rockabilly and pop, mark it as one of the era's most enduring heartbreak records now reissued, 30 years later.
