THE ISLEY BROTHERS – Shout! (1959) RCA- 2156 – Strong VG+/Strong VG (cover/vinyl) ORIGINAL BLACK LABEL STEREO!
This is the rare debut album by the legendary Isley Brothers, and it’s the super rare Living Stereo version that is much more sought after and scarcer than the mono version. This is proto-funk and soul and launched a hugely successful career where they would launch their own label and sign an unknown guitar named Jimi Hendrix to be in an early incarnation of the band. A major collectible and rarity from the dawn of Rock ‘n Roll.
This is a really nice copy considering its vintage. The cover is bright and tight and crisp with little wear (mostly on the back cover, and it’s light) and a 4-inch seam split from the jacket opening in on the bottom seam. It’s got the large black “Living Stereo” banner printed along the top seam. The original black label stereo vinyl is super clean and glossy with only some very light line scuffs to it. It plays with only very minor audible surface noise as the pressings of these issues were such high quality. This had definitely been played, but it hasn’t been abused at all. None of the scuffs click or repeat – they cause only very light audible surface noise, mostly in the quite parts of the music (which are few and far between). I find this to be a very enjoyable listen. I grade this conservatively: Strong VG+/Strong VG (cover/vinyl) – high end of the grades.
