One of the hardest to find of official singles associated with Holly in Australia. I’ve met more than one Holly person who wasn’t even aware of this record. It seems to be that during his 1958 tour of this country, he and Jerry Allison-the drummer with the Crickets- were very taken with a song at least partly composed by Johnny O’Keefe-“Real Wild Child” For contractual reasons Holly couldn’t give his name to it’s recording but Allison lent his middle name- Ivan- to the project. He sang lead vocals on both sides. Holly plays guitar on it and contributes backing vocals. Sold little at the time (nobody seemed to know who ‘Ivan’ was) but its gone on to become a classic. A legend of Australian rock’n’roll. The label has initials on one side and a name on the other ( see scan) It’s VG+. The vinyl has light scuffing on both sides but no serious marks. The (a) side is around EX- and plays about that (light surface sound/no skips or repeats) The (b) side has more wear and is around VG both visually and in sound (moderate surface sound/no skips or repeats) A keeper copy of a legendary rare single. In a company jacket.
CONDITION WISE:
MINT: Brand new condition, no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover, label, extras in perfect condition.
EXCELLENT: Slight signs of having been played, no lessening of sound quality. Cover, label, extras are good.
VERY GOOD: Played quite a few times, no real deterioration in sound quality. Cover, label, extras slight amount of wear and tear.
GOOD: Showing some wear and tear. Reasonable, playable sound. No major defects in record, cover, label, extras.
FAIR: Sound quality deteriorated. Cover, label, extras display folding, scuffing, marks
