Description
Original UK Village Thing labels of the first stereo press. The fourth LP by Ian A Anderson who came to prominence as a member of the Bristol blues scene in the mid to late 1960's, performing both solo and as a duo with Mike Cooper, later founding Folk Roots magazine. In December 1969, with John Turner, he conceived the record label The Village Thing, for which he was also a producer. The label released two dozen albums by mostly British and American artists between 1970 and 1974. With the earliest 1-G 1-G stampers and A-1U B-1U matrices of the first few hundred copies pressed in 1971!The fully laminated sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light laminate wear and a couple of small creases on the front cover, with some laminate lifting along the spine. The spine is intact and fully readable, the company inner is intact & in EX condition.
The record is in visually EX condition, with a few faint & wispy sleeve removal hairlines & one or two light needle scuffs on side 1 and a few faint hairlines/scuffs on side 2. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings on each side. The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, with some brief background noise during the run in grooves and a really great loud & clear listen! The matrix nos. are; VTS-9, A-1U mother stamper 1-G, B-1U mother stamper 1-G.
