Ian Matthews Tigers will Survive UK Vertigo Swirl LP
Need to create some space, so I'm selling a few albums - initially duplicates or those I don't play any more. You never know, there might just be something to suit your taste, so check them out. This listing is for an original UK Vertigo release of Ian Matthews album Tigers will Survive
Ian Matthews - Tigers will Survive
UK original pressing on Vertigo Swirl label
1972
Cat Number: 6360056
Matrix 1Y1 / 2Y1
Mode: Stereo
The Album:
Matthews' second solo offering on the Vertigo label, though a well respected name by then .. after first major success as Ian MacDonald on Fairport Convention's first album, he changed his name, stuck around for another album-and-a-bit with Fairport, recorded 3 albums as Matthews' Southern Comfort for UA, then switched to Vertigo. Little to fault in any of these early offerings.
Condition:
Very nice, no major faults:
Cover: This is an un-laminated, slightly textured gatefold sleeve. It is bright and clean with strong edges and seams with a nice crisp and clearly legible spine. It has a little shelf wear to the corners and edges, with a slightly more noticeable worn patch (see photo) on the right edge just below the Vertigo logo. Small circular patch of sticker residue - quite possibly removable - top left front. Inner is original swirl bag - age-related browning to some edges, again see photo.
Labels: Vertigo Swirl labels - bright with no writing, minor blotchiness in places. A few but not too many spindle marks in total
Vinyl: Very nice, maintaining its original sheen with some light paper scuffing. Plays really well with some customary light crackling in odd quiet spots, but nothing over intrusive!.
Overall:
A very nice cover housing a fine copy of a rare album - I'd guess that this might be professionally graded conservatively at VG+ / VG+.
Terms:
Please note that I try to test-play at least part of each record before listing, but do not have time to play fully in all cases. If you do discover a problem which I might have missed, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will do all I can to rectify the situation.
