Description
The classic early line-up of Idle Race featuring the highly inventive early talents of ELO stalwart Jeff Lynne released a number of highly-regarded 45's & L.P's in the U.K, Europe & the USA. In Australia there were just 2 items issued whilst Jeff Lynne was in the lineup - the classic self-titled LP (the LP "The Birthday Party was never issued in this country) and this pysch monster - "Imposter's Of Lifes Magazine" backed with "Sitting In My Tree" - issued locally on Liberty at the end of 1967 - Cat No LYK-2132. This is a stunning piece of pure, driving psychedelia but it had no appeal to the Australian record-buying public at all (like most 45's of this ilk at the time) and it sunk without trace and sold in miniscule quantities in this country. This local pressing is impossible to find in any condition. Comes in original Liberty paper sleeve under Festival distribution.
The record itself is visually a strong VG - it has only very light marks both sides. The "A" Side plays with a bit of a crackle that is audible especially near the start - probably caused by a bit of in-built dust in the grooves. Fortunately the loudness of the sound tends to drown it out. The "B" Side label has had a sticker removed. This item is hard to find in any condition!!
