ANNETTE HANSHAW accompanied by "HER THREE BLUE STREAKS," tackles two of the meteoric hits from the 1929 Fox picture, "Sunny Side Up": "I'M A DREAMER - AREN'T WE ALL?" and "IF I HAD A TALKING PICTURE OF YOU."
Miss Hanshaw claimed that her accompanists for this date included JAMES P. JOHNSON and CLARENCE WILLIAMS on piano! If it is indeed these gentlemen, their playing is REALLY on the downlow! I could barely detect any of their characteristic sounds, which do eventually turn up in a kind of subdued way, toward the end of "Talking Picture." Trumpeter MANNY KLEIN, however, is instantly identifiable!
This original 1929 Velvet-Tone 2066 is in EE- on "Talking Picture"; V++ on "Dreamer."
