Description

Jazz was unknown to most of the nation in 1917, until The Original Dixieland ‘Jass’ Band recorded “Livery Stable Blues” for the Victor Talking Machine Company. That disc credited to be the first studio recording of Jazz. It was also met with artistic criticism, but the public loved it. The Jazz Age began by this introduction into the American mainstream.
Cylinder records were on the decline and at this time Edison Blue Amberol records only had one competitor. That company, Indestructible, continued to compete until 1922.
Indestructible produced the only cylinder recording of “Livery Stable Blues” and it’s near impossible to find.
The beginning of your Jazz Age cylinder collection starts HERE, with this record!
