Description

Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds was released by American-born British musician, composer, and record producer Jeff Wayne in 1978. It is an musical adapted of the science-fiction novel The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells in a rock opera style with a rock band, orchestra, and narrator carrying the story and lyrics that express the feelings of the various characters. The album features guest artists David Essex, Justin Hayward, Phil Lynott, Chris Thompson, and Julie Covington, with actor Richard Burton as the narrator. This original radio program, “Innerview” with Jim Ladd, was distributed on vinyl and features this hard to find Jeff Wayne release as a Halloween Special on radio station across the country. This 2 record set had limited broadcast playback and features the original sleeves, radio take sheet and clean vinyl.
“Innerview” was the first syndicated hour-long radio interview show in the US to focus on rock artists and their music. It aired from the mid 1970′s until the late 1990′s. Hosted by Jim Ladd, DJ and radio personality of the then Los Angeles FM rock station KMET.
