I see many other VJ 1062s listed here on eBay say "original" and "1st run", but most are NOT. Look at the song list on the back cover. If Please Please Me is on it, it's NOT the first run or original edition! I've never seen anybody selling a VJ 1062 who has mentioned a date on the disk! I GUARANTEE THE AUTHENTICITY OF THIS RECORD. QUESTIONS WELCOMED.
I bought this record at Greenline Records in Jamaica (Queens) New York in very early January 1964 when visiting Grandparents. I was 14 years old and remember buying it! I certainly played it quite a bit in '64, probably not much after that. Over the years, moving state to state about 10 times, the cover took some wear and tear, mostly top & bottom edges. Before moving (once again) in 2005, I decided to sell off most of my LP collection. When I took a close look at this one I saw something I never noticed before. There is a date etched into the run-out groove on both sides! About "7 o'clock" on Side A, and about "8:30" on Side B. The date is 6-29-63. VJ was just starting to press these! The 6-29-63 dates aren't easy to see, and photographing them so they can be seen was VERY difficult - holding a magnifying glass and camera, macro focusing.
I HAVE JUST PLAYED THIS RECORD FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ABOUT 50 YEARS. IT PLAYS WELL AND IS VERY LISTENABLE. I PRESENT THIS AS A RARE COLLECTABLE IN GOOD CONDITION.
P.S. - the last photo, of an old poster, has Greenline Records in Jamaica NYC mentioned near the bottom. It's long gone.
