I am relisting this LP, because the previous winning bidder wished to cancel the sale before the LP was shipped. So, his loss can now become someone else's gain. Please read the description completely and ask any questions before bidding.

In this auction:

• “INTRODUCING THE BEATLES” LP by The Beatles

• This is Vee Jay Records VJLP 1062.

• This is a MONO (monaural) PRESSING.

• It was issued in January of 1964.

• This is VERSION 1 of this LP title with COLUMN BACK COVER and INCLUDES the cuts “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You”. As you probably know, legal action against Vee Jay Records required the removal of these 2 songs from future issues of this LP. Vee Jay replaced them with “Ask Me Why” and “Please Please Me” which came to be called Version 2.

• The Vee Jay record in this auction has RARE LABELS. It has 45 RPM-SIZE BLACK LABELS WITH RAINBOW COLOR-BAND AND OVAL VEE JAY LOGOS.

• Vee Jay 45 RPM labels used on LPs measure slightly more than 3 & 1/2 inches in diameter, and regular Vee Jay LP labels measure 4 inches in diameter. I have included an image of the label of the record in this auction beside a regular size VJ Version 2 LP label to compare the label sizes.

• BOTH COVER and VINYL of the LP in this auction ARE ABSOLUTELY AUTHENTIC! We know this because:

1) The cover has George’s shadow and spine printing.

2) The labels have "THE BEATLES" printed above the spindle hole.

3) The vinyl has the Monarch Records logo (MR in a circle) stamped in the trail-off on both sides.

4) The vinyl has "AudioMatrix" stamped in the trail-off of Side 2.

• So you can bid with confidence that you are receiving the real deal and NOT a counterfeit.

• The COVER is in STRONG VG to WEAK VG+ CONDITION. There is light to moderate overall wear which includes the following: light wear in the bottom center area and center area of the front slick, bald corners at the top and bottom of the spine and moderate wear on the other two corners, slight and intermittent flaking on the top seam/edge with just a tiny bit of paper loss and slight aging of the white rear cover slick. There are NO seam splits, NO ring wear and NO writing and NO creases on this cover.

• The SIDE 1 LABEL has light wear, and the SIDE 2 LABEL also has light wear with some visible spindle scratches/trails.

• Now, for the BAD NEWS and the GOOD NEWS about the vinyl. VISUALLY the VINYL would seem to be in WEAK VG to STRONG VG- CONDITION. There are numerous surface hairlines/scuffs (and one is “feel-able”) and the vinyl has lots of gloss. But, that grading is negated by the fact that THE VINYL HAS TWO CRACKS. The smaller crack is ½ -inch long measuring in from the edge of the vinyl. The larger crack is 1 & 1/8 inch long measuring in from the edge of the vinyl. The cracks are 1 -inch apart. HOWEVER, here is the GOOD NEWS: THE CRACKS DO NOT IMPAIR PLAY. There is NO SKIPPING due to the cracks. Some popping from the cracks can be heard strongly before tracks play and between tracks 1 and 2 on both sides. But the cracks are weakly/hardly audible on Side 1, Track 1 “I Saw Her Standing There” and Track 2 “Misery”. On Side 2, Track 1 “P.S. I Love You” and Track 2 “Baby It’s You” some very light pops can occasionally be heard. But the cracks do not cause significant audio distraction.

• I, of course, played the tracks with the cracks on both sides (on my Technics turntable tracking at 1/2 gram), and I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED to hear NO SKIPS and that the cracks caused minimal audible distractions.

• THEREFORE, the VINYL is graded FAIR CONDITION (due to “a chip or a crack that does not impair play” according to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records, 6th Edition grading scale.

As you probably know VERSION 1 issues of this LP are MUCH TOUGHER TO FIND than the Version 2 issues.

FURTHERMORE, the VERSION 1 ISSUES with the 45 RPM-SIZE LABELS are EVEN TOUGHER TO FIND than the Version 1 issues with regular-size labels!!!

Perhaps this can be a “place-holder” in someone’s Beatles vinyl collection until a better copy comes along at a good price.

These grades are Poor (P), Fair (F), Good Minus (G-), Good (G), Good Plus (G+), Very Good Minus (VG-), Very Good (VG), Very Good+ (VG+), Near Mint Minus or Very Good++ (NM- or VG++), Near Mint (NM), Mint Minus (M-), and Mint (M or MT) to VISUALLY GRADE this LP’s cover and vinyl, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding.
