Description
Vinyl was play tested through Focal Elegia's and it played as EX, I numerically scored the audio a 90 cumulatively which I use as the middle level of excellent (I actually played it twice within three days sandwiched with the 1st Japanese pressing, that includes Total Eclipse and Gangland!) and this vinyl absolutely has it all where it counts. The VG+ grade is being driven by the visual inspection. There were some areas of light surface noise, mostly between tracks and during the speaking parts (Prisoner, Number Of The Beast, Hallowed Be Thy Name intros) however once the tracks were playing they really sounded more like NM-; this thing sounds wicked good and you'll love it
The sleeve is scored as VG+ with maybe only 1 point to spare above VG but it is better than that by just a bit. The cover is in shrink and at arms length it looks fantastic (and this cover would look really nice in a frame with the shrink off, you'd hardly see the issue in a frame) but upon inspection you will see the top right corner. I don't know what happened, perhaps The Beast materialized and took a bite out the thing. Again, I don't know but something terrible happened and I have attempted to capture this in the picture. Beyond that there is some corner wear, wear along the opening side seam (something you'll feel more than see) and very light ring wear (only at certain angles). With the album on the shelf you don't see anything and overall the spine looks great. Numerically I'm scoring this a 73 (VG starts at 72 for me) and I think this is right because an almost 30% reduction in grade seems right; nothing to write home about but just enough to keep you out of summer school.
