Mint copy from 1983. This was still sealed when I received it and I only recently removed the seal to check it hadn’t degraded against the sleeve surface as can sometimes happen with ageing shrinkwrap. Luckily all is ok and the only evidence of wear is where the shrinkwrap had been breached in a few tiny places during its 37 year life. There is a tiny nick on the spine and some slight rubbing at the base - otherwise this is Mint.
The vinyl has never been played and of course is also Mint.
This is from the Italian first pressings, one of a handful that got through the production process with the original title of ‘Dune’ for the final song on Side B.
The generally accepted turn of events is that ‘Dune’ was always the intended name for the song, but Frank Herbert - the author of the book about which the song was written - refused to allow Maiden to use the title, stating that he didn’t like rock bands and especially not bands like Iron Maiden!
Therefore the title was changed to ‘To Tame a Land’ but not before some pressings slipped through the net. This copy has the title of Dune on both the back of the sleeve and also on the label where the song time is also incorrectly printed as 7.37 instead of 7.26!
These copies are understandably sought after by collectors and don’t often emerge on eBay.
