Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan – Ballad of the Broken Seas album on Vinyl.
This is the excellent 1st collaboration between Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegen.
Released on V2 in 2006 to widespread critical acclaim, this is an excellent, timeless album that is both melancholic and beautiful.
Darker than Isobels previous work in Belle and Sebastian or as a solo artist, her sweet voice is the perfect accompaniment to the rasp of Mark Lanegan.
Reminding of Johnny Cash, Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra, Nice Cave and Kylie Minogue (had they extended their duetting potential) the sound is backed up by no less than brilliant songwriting. I think the album artwork is very well suited to the mood within. This is a timeless collaboration.
The vinyl version of the album is rare, especially in this condition. Only selling this because I also have it on CD and needs must.
